Do I need a merchant bank account?
Yes, you need a merchant bank account with a South
African bank. At present, MyGate offers merchant banking
facilities with FNB. They streamline the process by
helping with the application and liaising between
our clients and FNB. They are negotiating similar
facilities with other major South African banks and
will advise via their website when other merchant
banks are added to their offerings.
What cards can my site accept?
Your site can accept Visa and Mastercard straight
away. Additional cards such as American Express and
Diners cards require applications to the card issuers
themselves. Subject to approval and the receipt of
a Merchant ID for these cards, your site will also
be able to accept American Express and Diners cards.
Are my clients' details safe?
Yes, the details the client enters on the site are
extremely safe. We pride ourselves on their safety.
Personal details are treated with complete confidentiality
and under no circumstances will they be sold or rented
to a third party.
How do I know how many and the value of transactions
that have gone through my site?
MyGate has developed an extensive backend reporting
tool for you to check your sales and the amounts owing.
Can I accept Foreign Currencies?
You can display foreign currencies with an equivalent
value in South African Rands. Your clients credit
card statement will be charged in their local currency,
the equivalent value of South African Rands. Please
note charges applied by foreign banks are completely
out of our control and we cannot accept any responsibility
for differences in exchange rates and service charges.
